Within Darkness There is Light

Unlike many, I love the dark days of winter. There is a kind of enforced hush that falls across the landscape, even here in noisy, bright New York. Maybe it is because I am deep into reading Kristin Lavransdatter, but this year I am really enjoying the light and the lack of light.

This morning, it was particularly lovely.

Oh, not me, I hate the dark days of winter.. but Yes, it was a lovely dawn--From my window, Manhattan looked like a city of gold--the morning sun reflected off the glass and all looked gilded.

I took a photo--i don't know how well it came out-but more than that, i LOOKed. I have it in me, (even if not as a captured image to share with others!)

I so agree with you on winter days. Thanks for reminding me of those books...I bought the trilogy several years ago but they reside in the hundreds of other unread books I love so much. They sound like a perfect winter read. Hope you're feeling better, good holidays to you.

I, too, adore winter! And Kristin Lavransdattir is one of my favorite books ever--all 3 of them.

cool pics. i seem to be enjoying the winter as it is so far this year - (not normal for me) - feeling fortunate that sourness about the holiday season is also impermanent.

I love winter, and I'm always a bit sad when the last snow melts. However, when I'm driving on icy roads, fear and anxiety arise! My least favorite part.
